The news: Version 10.5 of Apple’s high-end music production app is out now with a slew of new features.
- Live Loops are a grid-based “nonlinear” space that encourages spontaneity while instantly drafting and recording your best ideas.
- Sampler and Quick Sampler upgrade Logic’s sampling suite
- Hip hop and electronic music producers get and improved workflow because of a new step sequencer drum designer, new synth drums and more
- And finally: an updated Logic Remote companion app lets you interact with the new Live Loops interface.
Our take: Logic 10.5 aims to keep veteran and aspiring Logic producers from getting board and moving on to other tools from competitors like Ableton Live or FL Studio. Live Loops and the new step sequencer, specifically, are huge quality of life upgrades for producers of any genre. This could easily inspire a whole new wave of creativity for music makers.
