The leak: Ahead of release sometime next month, we have our clearest look yet at what the final design for the iPhone 12 may be, according to EverythingApplePro.
The casing shown in the video is apparently a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro
A LiDAR sensor is sitting below the same triple camera layout as last year
There’s also what looks to be a magnetic cutout inside the phone and a new 5G antenna area on the side
Our take: EverythingApplePro says that this is a legitimate chassis. At first it looked off to me, but then I found some older photos of other iPhone chassis. They’re pretty comparable in the sense that they are both rough around the edges and don’t look as close to the end product as you would think.
The bezels shown on the iPhone 12 Pro Max are quite thick
A larger 6.7-inch display allows for more information on display
Tweaked battery icon
Our take: This leak corroborates the other iPhone 12 Pro Max screenshots shared prior. I love the AM/PM notation as it seems Apple is taking advantage of the extra screen space. However, I am extremely disappointed to see that notch is the same size as before.
The news: Newly revealed iPhone 12 schematics show a much different device than previously expected, according to EverythingApplePro.
The notch isn’t shrinking (same size as iPhone X)
Tweaked camera layout replicates iPhone 11 Pro design with LiDAR sensor below
LiDAR may now be exclusive to the 6.7-inch model
‘Smart Connector’ area is actually the 5G antenna cutout
Our take: While this is not seemingly the final design, it’s certainly concerning that the notch isn’t any smaller in these fresh CAD files. That was one of the most anticipated upgrades for the iPhone 12 series that I would hate to see not make the cut. Plus, LiDAR only the 6.7-inch model? Doesn’t make sense why Apple would do that.
