Leaker reveals Apple’s Spring event: this is what’s coming

The rumors: Apple will be dropping a trio of products at an event this Spring, according to dylandkt (77.5% accurate).

Get ready for new iPhones, iPads and Macs…

    • Redesigned Mac mini with M1 Pro or M1 Max chips inside
    • Third-generation iPhone SE with 5G
    • Updated iPad Air (other rumors have suggested Center Stage and a faster processor)

But there could be one more thing…

    • A redesigned, larger 27-inch iMac could also appear at the event, but “there are still concerns with regards to production”

Our take: While the new iPhone SE and iPad Air sounds like minor updates, I’m off-the-charts excited for the new Mac mini…and especially that large iMac. Fingers crossed it makes the cut for the March/April event.

  • Apple rumored to release most products ever in Fall 2022

Apple rumored to release most products ever in Fall 2022

The rumor: Apple is planning for their biggest season of product releases ever, according to Mark Gurman (87% accurate).

    • “I’m told that Apple is readying the widest array of new hardware products in its history this fall…(that) list includes four new iPhones, a low-end MacBook Pro, an updated iMac, the new Mac Pro, a revamped MacBook Air, an AirPods Pro upgrade, three Apple Watches, a low-end iPad and iPad Pros” Gurman says
    • Previously, Apple held 3 product launch events in Fall 2020 and 2 at the end of 2021

Our take: That is a lot of hardware to ship between September and November. I’m sure it would give Apple a killer holiday quarter, but I’m positive we will see some products before then. It just sounds like the major releases are some months away… Good thing we have the upcoming Spring event and WWDC 2021 to hold us over until then.

  • Ahead of rumored Spring event, Apple registers new iPhones and iPads

Ahead of rumored Spring event, Apple registers new iPhones and iPads

The news: Apple may be preparing to release new iPhones and iPads, according to Consomac.

    • References to 3 new iPhone models (A2595, A2783, A2784) and 11 new iPad models (A2436, A2588, A2696, A2759, A2437, A2589, A2591, A2757, A2761, A2766, A2777) appeared in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)
    • New Apple products are frequently revealed in the EEC prior to their release in the ensuing months

Our take: More confirmation of an event taking place within the next couple of months. Definitely looks to be a new iPhone SE and updated iPad Air…

  • Apple holding March/April event to launch new iPhone SE

Apple holding March/April event to launch new iPhone SE

The rumor: Apple is planning to hold their first virtual event of the year in the Spring, according to Mark Gurman (87% accurate, via Power On).

Our take: And just like that, the first event rumor of the year is out from the best source for Apple rumors. While the new iPhone SE will just be a spec-bump, the new MacBook Air and 27-inch iMac should be much more exciting.

  • Gurman: No more Apple events in 2021

Gurman: No more Apple events in 2021

The rumor: Apple’s media blitzes are done for 2021, according to Mark Gurman (87.3% accurate, via Power On).

    • “I wouldn’t expect a third event this year or any other major announcements…if Apple had any more Macs to launch this year, it would have announced them this past week…there’s really nothing else left of substance in the road map that would be ready for 2021,” Gurman says
    • The next products we’ll be seeing from Apple may include “a larger Apple Silicon iMac, new Mac mini, new iPhone SE and new iPad Pro”

Our take: No way we see another event from Apple this year. Nothing else is rumored to be ready and all of Apple’s major announcements (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, AirPods) have already happened. But I’d bet on another March-April event in the first half of 2022 similar to what we saw this year.

Alleged M1X MacBook Pro leak shows bezel-less display with notch & more

The leak: Just hours ahead of Apple’s ‘Unleashed’ event on Monday morning, new images of the upcoming MacBook Pro have been shared by Weibo user AnyTurtle999 (not yet tracked, via DuanRui).

    • The photos, which show an almost entirely bezel-less display similar to what can be seen on iPhone 13, depict a completely revamped display made possible by the presence of a notch
    • Rumors of a notched MacBook Pro began earlier this week, but were largely dismissed…until now
    • Face ID does not appear to be part of the new notch design: it looks to just be a camera (said to finally be 1080p)

Our take: Wow. I didn’t believe these notch rumors until now…but I think I love it. This has allowed Apple to essentially eliminate the display borders and these two images look futuristic as hell. This year’s MacBook Pro redesign isn’t a step forward, it’s a leap.
