Reliable source says no new Apple Watch this month

The rumor: Apple will not be launching a new Apple Watch imminently, according to L0vetodream (89.2% accurate).

Our take: Well this is a bummer. L0vetodream sits at nearly the top of the source leaderboard and is relentlessly good at knowing when new products will ship. I guess next week we may just see that new iPad Air.

Lower cost Apple Watch ‘SE’ to replace Series 3

The rumor: Apple is preparing to replace the current Apple Watch Series 3 with a lower-cost variant, according to Mark Gurman (86.7% accurate).

  • The cheaper Apple Watch will launch later this year alongside the Apple Watch Series 6
  • As stock for the Series 5 watch on Apple’s site dwindles, a launch could be imminent
  • AppleTrack speculates the lower-cost wearable could get the ‘SE’ moniker, similar to how Apple named the $399 iPhone SE

Our take: With the Apple Watch Series 3 going away this year, Apple needs a suitable replacement for that slot: something that’s cheap enough to manufacture but compelling enough to purchase. I could see something like the S4 processor from the Series 4 making its way inside the new ‘SE’ timepiece.

Apple Watch Series 5 models out of stock ahead of rumored September refresh

The news: A number of Apple Watch Series 5 models on apple.com are currently unavailable, spotted initially by Tailosive Tech.

  • The 44mm GPS + LTE version of the Apple Watch Series 5 is currently unavailable, and other models aren’t available for pickup at many Apple Stores
  • Apple recently registered new iPads and watches in the Eurasian database
  • Jon Prosser (77.8% accurate) has also said that new iPads and watches are coming in September

Our take: Everything at this point suggests new Apple Watch an iPad models are coming very soon. Looks like they’ll be dropping ahead of Apple’s October Special Event after all.

New ‘Summer’ Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases released

The news: Apple just dropped new fresh-looking summer bands and iPhone cases on their website, as spotted by MacRumors.

  • Linen Blue, Seafoam, Coastal Gray and Vitamin C are the new colorways for the Sport Bands
  • Linen Blue, Seafoam and Vitamin C are the new options for the silicone iPhone 11 series cases

Our take: I never thought I’d see Apple name a color “Vitamin C…” Still, these all look pretty nice, and are definitely worth looking into if you are a fan of Apple’s first-party bands and cases.
