The leak: Inside a barren iPhone box later this year Apple will be including a nicer braided Lightning cable, according to L0vetodream (88.6% accurate) and DuanRui.
The included USB-C to Lightning cable will be braided out of the box (more purported images below)
This marks the first time the proprietary cable has ever seen a material upgrade
Our take: Nearly every person I’ve ever known has complained of a stripped or torn Lightning cable at some point in their life. Perhaps this is another way Apple will justify removing EarPods and charging brick from the box.
The rumor: Battery capacities may be shrinking across the board for iPhone 12 models launching later this year, as seen by MySmartPrice.
These are the purported new mAh capacities:
Apple iPhone 12 (5.4-inch): 2227mAh
Apple iPhone 12 Max (6.1-inch): 2775mAh
Apple iPhone 12 Pro (6.1-inch): 2775mAh
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7-inch): 3687mAh
And here’s how they compare to the 2019 iPhone models:
iPhone 11: 3,110 ⮕ 2775mAh (-10.8%)
iPhone 11 Pro: 3,046 ⮕ 2775mAh (-8.8%)
iPhone 11 Pro Max: 3,969 ⮕ 3687mAh (-7.1%)
Our take: This feels off, especially amid the rumors of a 120Hz display coming to the Pro models. I could understand a slight reduction in overall capacity…but more than seven percent for every model? Unless there’s some wild magic Apple has worked with the A14 chip…I’m calling bogus on these being the final battery numbers.

The dream: This year’s iPhone 12 Pro will have as much RAM as an iPad Pro, according to L0vetodream (88.6% accurate).
Pro iPhones will get 6GB of RAM, up 2 GB from last year
The non-Pro iPhone 12 (5.4/6.1-inch) will retain 4GB
Our take: Apple has always been extremely sluggish to upgrade RAM in iPhone models, but they appear to be making a huge jump this year with the new Pro phones.
Our take: With Apple already removing EarPods and the charging brick, I find a price increase on top of this highly unlikely. Pu’s poor track record also gives me serious doubts, especially for a price prediction.
The rumor: Apple’s next iMacs will boast larger displays of more than 23 and 30 inches respectively, according to Sonny Dickson (73.3% accurate).
The new iMac will some in two sizes, per usual: 23/24-inch and 30 to 32-inch
Both models will have “much thinner bezels inspired by Apple’s Pro Display XDR”
Our take: This is the first we’ve heard of a screen-size increase for the larger 27-inch iMac, which furthers my excitement for that model. My current 27-inch iMac is nearly flawless, but with a screen size and bezels similar to the Pro Display XDR, this next iMac could be perfect.
The rumor: Apple silicon will allow computers to become thinner and lighter, leading to a more concise notebook lineup in the future, according to Sonny Dickson (73.3% accurate).
Apple silicon would make the 13-inch MacBook Air and Pro too similar in capability, leading to the Air’s discontinuation
A 14-inch notebook called ‘MacBook’ or ‘The New MacBook’ will likely fill the bottom end of the lineup
The 16-inch MacBook Pro will stick around as the high-end option
Our take: After Apple just revamped the MacBook Air in 2018, it would be pretty wild to see it disappear already. Conversely…I also struggle to see where it would fit in as part of Apple’s silicon lineup. Just like Apple silicon is a fresh start for the Mac, perhaps ‘The New MacBook’ will be, too.
The leak: The iPhone 12 will have radically different internal packaging, according to ConceptsiPhone.
The leaked packaging is much slimmer than before, allowing for a smaller form-factor box
EarPods and a power brick will not be in the box, according to many sources
ConceptsiPhone is currently unrated with no leaks that have been accurate or inaccurate yet
Our take: This lines up with all the other rumors we’ve been hearing about the iPhone 12…but I have to questions what the blank, square space is for. It almost looks like it would be for EarPods or a pair of headphones…
