This change in thickness is reportedly due to the new MiniLED display, which is said to be a significant upgrade over current LCD technology
Our take: Considering how large the 12.9-inch iPad Pro already is, this is actually a pretty sizable depth increase. Perhaps this is why there are new Magic Keyboards coming?
The rumor: Apple is planning to expand the fastest 5G to more countries on iPhone 13, according to Ming-Chi Kuo (75% accurate).
In a new research note we obtained, Kuo says that mmWave 5G is expanding to more countries on the 2021 iPhones
mmWave is the fastest kind of 5G that allows for speeds of over a gigabit/s
Our take: Living in the US, I forget that only US iPhone 12 models support mmWave currently. While I don’t get why this wasn’t released everywhere in 2020…I’m glad to hear that it’s expanding on the 2021 iPhones.
The rumor: Apple’s premium podcast subscription service is launching tomorrow, according to Peter Kafka (not yet tracked).
Kafka says that Apple will launch a paid subscription service for podcasts at their April 20 event
There have previously been rumblings of Apple stepping up their podcast plan, but no one has called a potential launch date until now
Our take: I have no idea who Kafka is, but considering he’s an executive editor at Recode and verified on Twitter, I assume there is some weight behind this. I just don’t know how much.
While we are here: Pretty sure Apple is prepping its own podcast plan – a paid subscription service – on Tuesday. pic.twitter.com/w12tWqg0yo
The rumors: Apple is preparing to launch a slew of new iPad models and more on Tuesday, according to Wedbush Securities (78.6% accurate, via MacRumors).
New iPads are coming: the report says that new entry-level iPad, iPad mini and iPad Pro models will be the focus of the event
iPad and iPad mini would be priced as they are currently, but iPad Pro is said to be getting more expensive
A new Apple Pencil may also be unveiled
A few surprises: Wedbush says iMacs, AirTags, and AirPods 3 could all debut at the 4/20 event
New iMac models may come in additional colorways
As for new AirPods, the report says that they likely won’t release until sometime this Summer…any mention at the event would simply be as a tease
Our take: Woah. Lots of new info in this report that no one else has called yet. For the iPads, a new mini AND new entry-level model are coming? I doubt this because no other credible sources have said so. Price increase for the Pro iPads would be pretty wild though, considering they already start at $799. I still absolutely believe we’ll be seeing new iMacs this event, but am not holding my breath for new AirPods.
The rumors: There is more evidence than ever that Apple plans to launch a new iMac imminently, suggested by L0vetodream (89% accurate).
In yet another tweet about Apple’s upcoming event on Tuesday, L0vetodream has shard a side-by-side comparison showing the colors in the invite and retro Apple logo
Apple’s new iMac may feature a 23-24-inch display, Apple Silicon and new color options similar to the iPad Air
Our take: As I’ve been saying for days now, I believe a new iMac is coming. Many othersources are hinting at this, as well.
The leak: The first hands-on look at some iPhone 13 models has been shared by EverythingApplePro.
The embedded video below shows EAP going hands-on with 3D-printed CAD models for iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 Pro Max
The notable changes year-over-year? Larger camera modules that protrude more, a new camera layout on the mini, and small changes to button locations on the side of the devices
Our take: These CAD leaks seem be on-par with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro leaks from earlier this week. Seeing this hands-on really shows how big the new camera setups will be…
Our take: While this could be baseless speculation, Gurman is known to tweet things like this when he’s heard a tidbit in the background. Plus, it adds up: Apple’s M1 chip is very similar to the A14 processor, so the next Mac chips will likely be similar to the A-series, too.
Would anyone else find it odd if a big iMac was using essentially the same processor as an iPad Pro?
