The rumor: Apple’s first pair of stemless earbuds are launching next month, according to Jon Prosser (73.6% accurate, via FrontPageTech).

Our take: Every piece of evidence was suggesting an imminent launch, and even Mark Gurman (89.1% accurate) has said BSB are coming in July… Pretty excited to try these out.

  • Redesigned iPad mini first look shows larger screen, USB-C & more

Redesigned iPad mini first look shows larger screen, USB-C & more

The leak: A slew of new renders depicting the upcoming, redesigned iPad mini have been shared by Jon Prosser (73.6% accurate, via FrontPageTech.com) and designer Ian Zelbo.

    • The new design essentially looks look a mini iPad Pro, with slimmer bezels and an all-screen design with dimensions of 206.3x 137.8 x 6.1mm
    • Due to the removal of the home button, it seems Touch ID will be relocated into the power button
    • Upgraded speakers described as “crazy nice” will also debut on the new tablet
    • And believe it or not…USB-C may be replacing the Lightning port
    • A smaller version of the Apple Pencil could also ship alongside the new iPad mini

Our take: This looks phenomenal, and it’s what iPad mini users have been asking for, for years. I don’t think it’s the right tablet for me, but this will certainly become the best small tablet on the market overnight.

  • iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro CAD files leaked…and you can download them

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro CAD files leaked…and you can download them

The leak: The official iPhone 13 and 13 Pro CAD files have been leaked and made available for download by Jon Prosser (78.1% accurate).

    • The new devices are apparently a bit thicker to accommodate new, larger battery capacities
    • A redesigned camera setup can be seen on the regular iPhone 13, with a larger camera system on iPhone 13 Pro

Our take: Well this is a first: downloadable CAD images of the iPhone 13 (download) and iPhone 13 Pro (download) months ahead of launch. Pretty crazy that these are just out there for anyone to see now as they are traditionally very locked down.

  • Mac mini first look shows all-new design, lots of ports & more

Mac mini first look shows all-new design, lots of ports & more

The leak: Apple is planning a redesigned Mac mini with Apple Silicon inside, according to Jon Prosser (78.1% accurate).

    • On top of the new Mac mini is a “plexiglass” cover instead of metal…Prosser suggests that two-tone colors could make an appearance here, but not for sure
    • The updated desktop will feature the same magnetic power cable as the iMac 24-inch, complemented by 4 USB-C ports, 2 USB-A ports, ethernet and HDMI
    • 2 rubber strips sit on the bottom of the computer where the fan vent is located

Our take: Another incredible Apple Silicon redesign. Really hoping we see the two-tone color scheme on here similar to the new iMacs but even in white and silver it looks gorgeous. With M1X inside, this will be a beast.

  • New rumor says MacBook Pro ‘confirmed’ for WWDC

New rumor says MacBook Pro ‘confirmed’ for WWDC

    • In a response to our story about Apple potentially hinting at the launch of new MacBook models, Prosser says he “can confirm MacBook Pro is coming”
    • Mark Gurman (88.7% accurate) has also rumored a Summer launch for new MacBook Pros

Our take: And here’s confirmation of our hunch. New MacBook Pros, at the very least, should be shown off in exactly two weeks on June 7.

  • New rumor suggests hardware coming at WWDC

New rumor suggests hardware coming at WWDC

The rumor: Apple is preparing to launch new hardware at what is traditionally a software-only event, according to Jon Prosser (78.1% accurate).

    • New hardware is said to be announced on June 7 when WWDC 2021 kicks off, but we currently don’t have the details on what exactly is coming
    • Mark Gurman (88.7% accurate) previously suggested that new MacBook Pro models could launch as soon as this Summer

Our take: While I’m always skeptical of WWDC hardware rumors, it seems like Apple has a lot to announce this year. I hope it’s MacBooks, but perhaps it is something else even more special…

  • Apple Watch Series 7 first look shows new design, colors & more

Apple Watch Series 7 first look shows new design, colors & more

The rumor: Apple is planning a significant redesign and more for this year’s Apple Watch, according to Jon Prosser (77.8% accurate).

    • The new redesign mirrors recent updates to the iPad Pro, iPhone 12 and iMac 24″
    • A new green color, as previewed yesterday, is also in the works and will likely ship this year

Our take: The new watch design looks phenomenal and is the perfect blend between rounded and sharp edges. One thing I’ve noticed: the new speaker grills look huge! Hopefully this means bigger and better sound on the Apple Watch, something that has always been mediocre at best on the wearable.

  • AirTag magnetic keychain accessory may be ‘on the way’

AirTag magnetic keychain accessory may be ‘on the way’

The rumor: Apple is working on additional accessories for AirTag, according to Jon Prosser (77.8% accurate) on the Genius Bar podcast.

    • According to Prosser, a new magnetic keychain accessory is “on the way…” but no specific launch timeframe was mentioned
    • Apple currently sells a few AirTag accessories including a polyurethane and leather loop and leather keychain attachment, on top of a number of Hermès offerings

Our take: Apple’s first-party accessories for AirTag felt quite limited at launch, so it seems reasonable that at least something else is coming. I’d love to a magnetic accessory where AirTag just snaps inside.

  • Apple Watch Series 7 may see redesign, come in new green color

Apple Watch Series 7 may see redesign, come in new green color

The rumor: Apple is planning a new design and at least one new color for Apple Watch Series 7, according to Jon Prosser (77.8% accurate) on the Genius Bar podcast.

    • As previously reported by Ming-Chi Kuo (76.6% accurate), the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature a new design
    • For the first time on Apple Watch, it may also feature a new green colorway similar to the shade found on AirPods Max or iPad Air

Our take: Sounds like Apple Watch Series 7 will be the most significant upgrade since the Series 4 back in 2018. I’ve seen the new design, and I really like it. Falls right in line with Apple’s recent product redesigns like iPad Pro, iPhone 12 and even the new M1 iMac.

  • Future AirPods update may enable Lossless audio via AirPlay

Future AirPods update may enable Lossless audio via AirPlay

The rumor: Streaming audio to AirPods will get a major update in the future, according to Jon Prosser (77.8% accurate) on the Genius Bar podcast.

    • While Bluetooth is too technically limited to support lossless audio streaming, a different codec or firmware update could be released in the future to support the higher bandwidth needed to stream HiFi audio on AirPods
    • Apple confirmed yesterday that no AirPods currently support lossless audio in any way, but used the word “currently”

Our take: Before announcing AirTag, Apple announced a broader Find My Network with support for 3rd party accessories: Prosser suggests that in light of recent anti-trust investigations, Apple is doing the same thing here. Announce support for lossless audio that works with 3rd-party devices weeks ahead of announcing a new proprietary Apple format for streaming HiFi music. To me, this makes a lot of sense as there’s no way Apple would intentionally misfire this intentionally.

  • First look at next MacBook Air shows new design, colors & more

First look at next MacBook Air shows new design, colors & more

The leak: Apple’s next MacBook Air will feature an all-new design and more, according to Jon Prosser (77.6% accurate).

    • The new design is not tapered, but rather completely flat and nearly as thin as the USB-C port on the side
    • Prosser mentions that the exact sizing of the display is a guess, but the bezels on this prototype are white
    • An updated keyboard features full-size function row keys and the same Touch ID sensor as the new iMac keyboards
    • The rubber feet on the bottom of the MacBook Air have been swapped for two long rubber bars

Our take: I think this design looks phenomenal, and it seriously seems like this is as thin as they can go. We’ve seen a lot of Apple’s new base silicon designs, but I’m still most excited to see the next M-series of Pro models…
