iPhone 13 may support Wi-Fi 6E
The rumor: Apple may significantly upgrade the wireless capabilities on the iPhone 13 lineup, according to Barclays (64.7% accurate, spotted by MacRumors).
- Wi-Fi 6E is broadcast on the 6GHz spectrum: for years, Wi-Fi has been limited to only 2.4/5Ghz frequencies
- Wi-Fi Alliance describes Wi-Fi 6E as “higher performance, lower latency, and faster data rates – extended into the 6 GHz band”
Our take: Many analysts are projecting that the first consumer applications of 6E will be in smartphones. Apple is pretty quick to adopt this stuff, so I think we’ll see it in the 2021 iPhones.
